具體步驟如下：
a、下載Syslinux的軟件並解壓縮，這裏測試的版本是syslinux-3.86；
（下載地址：http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/）
b、進入解壓縮目錄...\win32,執行syslinux.exe U盤符
D:\syslinux-3.86\win32>syslinux.exe j:
c、將ESXi鏡像內容全部拷貝到U盤中
d、將U盤中的syslinux.cfg文件名改爲SYSlinux.cfg
如果是ESXi4.1之前的版本到此就設置完成，這裏要安裝ESX4.1版本，還要繼續設置。
e、在U盤的根目錄創建一個ks.cfg文件，輸入以下內容

# Choose the first discovered disk to install onto
autopart --firstdisk --overwritevmfs
# The installation media is in the CD-ROM drive

f、 修改SYSlinux.cfg文件，在append vmkboot.gz 後面增加一句：ks=usb:/ks.cfg

到此,U盤安裝ESXi4.1設置完成，安裝時服務器從U盤啓動即可，安裝過程跟光盤安裝無兩樣。此例中root的密碼爲password
